Culture of Excellence Award Recipients (August 2017)

The SC Science Academy is proud to announce its August Culture of Excellence Award winners. Each month the faculty and staff of SCSA elect one student from 6th, 7th, 8th, and secondary education grades that consistently embody the qualities of a high achieving scholar and responsible young adult. This month’s winners are Troy Taylor in 6th grade, Christopher Middleton 7th grade, Nylah Hutton in 8th grade, and Javen Martin for secondary scholars.
The faculty and staff also elect a member of the Atom Family that personifies the qualities of integrity and devotion for student achievement. This month’s selection is Clayton Henke, Director of School Counseling. Mr. Henke explained, “I'm honored to be the Culture of Excellence Award winner for August. I didn't get into public education for the accolades, but it feels very gratifying to have my peers recognize my efforts and dedication to the school and our scholars. We have such a great group of employees at South Carolina Science Academy and there are so many people deserving of this award. I look forward to continuing to work hard to live up to our school community’s high expectations.”
SCSA's Executive Director believes, “These students are scholars in every sense of the word. They personify the spirits of character, integrity, and grit that we look for in SC Science Academy students. I am proud of each of these scholars and feel blessed to call them Atoms!”
SCSA is an award winning, tuition free middle/high school serving students in grades 6-12. The school continues to expand and will add a college Associate of Science degree to its curriculum in the coming year. Registration is year-round, for more information go to www.scscienceacademy.org.
